Second Phase of Zaamin Technopark Development Unveiled in Jizzakh
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During his visit to the Jizzakh region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the presentation of new investment projects planned for the second phase of development at the Zaamin Technopark Special Industrial Zone.
The technopark spans an area of 400 hectares. While the first phase includes nine ongoing investment projects, a portfolio of five promising initiatives has now been formed for the second phase.
Among the upcoming projects are a joint venture with China’s Longze Investment Group for the production of medical and security equipment, and a partnership with tech giant Foxit to manufacture laptops, tablets, servers, and routers. Additional ventures include the production of leather and sports footwear, construction materials, porcelain tableware, and chemical products.
The total investment volume for these second-phase projects is approximately US$250 million. All enterprises will focus on manufacturing high value-added products, with around 70% intended for export markets.
The Jizzakh region has shown strong growth in attracting foreign investments. While only US$18 million was invested in 2018, the figure surpassed US$1 billion last year. Over the past eight years, the region has attracted a total of US$3.7 billion, launched over 4,000 industrial facilities, and become home to 260 enterprises with foreign capital participation.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of maintaining high momentum in attracting investment, promoting production localization and exports, and ensuring the effective execution of the newly presented projects.
