Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China with SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming, Dunyo news agency reported.
During the talks, issues of holding events during the chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the SCO were discussed. The importance of work to prepare for the upcoming meetings of the Council of Heads of SCO Member States and the Council of Foreign Ministers was especially emphasized.
The SCO Secretary General also informed about the work plans of the Secretariat for the coming period. He noted that the Secretariat, together with interested structures and other member states of the organization, began work on preparing a number of events within the framework of Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in the SCO.
Zhang Ming highly appreciated the participation of the Uzbek side in the practical implementation of the organization’s agenda, continued support for the activities of its Secretariat and a significant contribution to strengthening the "Shanghai spirit".
Following the meeting, the parties determined joint actions to organize the main events of the SCO in 2022 and ensure the content and effectiveness of the upcoming Samarkand summit.
In September 2021, the chairmanship of the SCO passed to Uzbekistan, within which it is planned to hold more than 80 international events aimed at developing a program for the development of intra-regional trade and strengthening cooperation between countries in the field of security and sustainable development.
