SCO leaders approve membership of India and Pakistan in organization
SCO leaders participated in the meeting in a narrow format. Afterwards, the meeting continued with the participation of the heads of delegations of the observer countries in the SCO and international organizations.
SCO leaders discussed current issues of the SCO activities, fight against terrorism, situation in the Middle East and decision to grant India and Pakistan the status of full members in the organization.
SCO member states adopted a package of documents, including Astana Declaration, which reflects the consolidated approaches of member states to further development of the organization and agreed assessments on key international issues, the Convention on Countering Extremism, the Declaration of the Heads of State of the SCO Member States on Joint Counteraction to International Terrorism and others solutions.
At the summit, the SCO countries approved the membership of India and Pakistan in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
