Scientific, educational and economic ties with Nagoya are strengthened

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan made a business trip to the city of Nagoya to discuss the current state and prospects of bilateral scientific, educational and economic cooperation. Meetings were held with representatives of the executive and legislative authorities, as well as scientific, educational and business circles in Nagoya.

During the meeting with Mayor T. Kawamura and deputies of the parliament of Nagoi: Takayuki Nakazato, Tanabe Yuichi, Tamotsu Asano, issues of expanding cooperation between the cities of Tashkent and Nagoya in the field of cultural and humanitarian exchanges dedicated to the work of the great Uzbek poet, thinker and statesman Alisher Navoi, as well as the strengthening of sports ties between the two peoples were discussed.

During the visit to Nagoya University, negotiations were held with President Seichi Matsuo, Vice-President Kazuhiko Kawakita, Director of the Institute of Asian Satellites of Campuses Akira Yamauchi, Professor Norimi Mizutani, Vice-Rector of TSTU Kiyohisa Nishiyama.

The Japanese side, summing up the results of the work done in 2020, noted the significant results achieved despite the coronavirus pandemic: the appointment of a professor at the University of Nagoya as vice-rector of the Tashkent State Technical University (TSU), the beginning of the reform of TSTU in accordance with Japanese standards, the intensification of cooperation to improve activities Uzbek-Japanese Youth Center for Innovation and Tashkent State University of Law, training of highly qualified personnel.

During the meeting, issues of continuing the administrative reform of TSTU, academic exchanges and scientific cooperation were discussed. It was emphasized that work is underway on the invitation of the Nobel laureate Professor H. Amano to Uzbekistan, the organization of a number of scientific and educational events on the eve of and during the celebration 30th anniversary of the Uzbek-Japanese diplomatic relations in 2022.

During the meeting with the Chairman of the Corporation of State Universities Aichi Masanori Aikyo, representatives of the Aichi University of the Arts (Rector Toshiki Toyama, Vice-Rector Shinji Okada, Professors Koji Shibazaki, Shinji Maruyama, Associate Professor Fumiko Sato) and Aichi Prefectural University (President Rei Kufukikhatoi Hairo, Vice President ) the issues of deepening interuniversity cooperation and the implementation of joint scientific and cultural projects were discussed.

In particular, negotiations were held on the implementation of a project to study Uzbek ceramic tiles (blue tiles), which involves the analysis of materials, including paints, used in their manufacture. The goal of the project is to define the original material and manufacturing technique. The possibility of developing cooperation in the field of studying Buddhist monuments in Uzbekistan and recreating high-quality copies of objects of material culture was also discussed.

During negotiations with the leadership of the Nagoya Institute of Technology: Vice President Yasushi Ido, Vice President, Director of the International Strategy Planning Office Yuji Iwamota, Head of the Office of International Relations Mitsuru Mizuno, issues of establishing cooperation with Uzbek higher and scientific educational institutions were discussed.

The Nagoya Institute of Technology (Nitech) was founded in 1905 as the Nagoya High School of Technology. In 1949, after merging with the Aichi Prefecture College of Technology, it was transformed into the Nagoya Institute of Technology.

The number of students is about 6 thousand, of which 345 are foreigners. Has 101 partners from 36 countries, as well as joint degree programs with Nagoya City University (in nanopharmaceuticals), the Australian University of Wollongong (computer science) and dual degree programs with a number of Chinese universities in the field of engineering.

The interlocutors expressed interest in establishing cooperation with higher educational and scientific institutions of the republic in the field of:

1) academic exchanges of students and researchers;

2) admission of Uzbek students to master's and doctoral courses, including with the use of grant funds from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan;

3) conducting joint fundamental research;

4) conducting online classes for students of higher educational institutions of the republic;

5) organization of conferences, round tables, trainings, etc.

In addition, during the visit to Nagoya, meetings were held with representatives of a number of Japanese companies, during which the leaders of Japanese companies were thoroughly familiarized with the results achieved in recent years in the liberalization of the economy, increasing the investment attractiveness of the republic, the benefits and preferences provided, detailed information about the "Renewed Uzbekistan ".

The heads of Japanese companies especially noted the growing interest of Japanese business in doing business in the republic, as well as the huge untapped potential of economic partnership between the two countries. As a result of the negotiations, Japanese companies expressed great interest in the possibilities of establishing and expanding business in the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of food production under Japanese brands together with the companies "Smileview Inc" and "Kimagure".
