Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Education in secondary schools in Samarkand and Surkhandarya regions will start on 11 January. This was reported by the khokimiyats of the regions. Education in schools of Karakalpakstan will start on 12 January.
In Samarkand region, from 11 January, 13 universities, 71 out of 73 institutions of secondary specialized education and 950 out of 1225 secondary schools will resume work.
In 97 schools and 2 universities, with which transport links are difficult and in which there are restrictions on heating, studies will resume from 13 January. Another 208 schools will start working on 18 January.
Khokimiyat of Surkhandarya region also announced that studies in the schools of the region will begin on 11 January. Education in schools of Karakalpakstan will begin on January 12.
Earlier it was reported that schools will resume work from 11 January in Bukhara, Khorezm and Andijan regions.
The Government of Uzbekistan has decided to extend the winter holidays until 17 January due to frost.
On 10 January, the Government of Uzbekistan allowed the regional authorities to independently determine the vacation schedule.
