Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The day before, on 15 May, the Yangi Uzbekiston complex in Tashkent hosted the awarding of winners and prize-winners of the 56th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad among schoolchildren, organized by the Agency of the Presidential Educational Institutions of Uzbekistan.
According to the organizers, the holding of the International Mendeleev Olympiad in our country has become a special event. Almost one hundred talented young men and women from 16 countries demonstrated their abilities, improved their knowledge, found new friends and visited the historical monuments of Tashkent and Samarkand.
“There are representatives of five countries among the medalists,” says Stepan Kalmykov, chairman of the organizing committee of the Olympiad, dean of the Faculty of Chemistry at Moscow State University. - High results were shown not only by experienced teams, but also by beginners.
Ten participants won gold medals. Among them is a student of the specialized school named after Abu Ali ibn Sino under the Agency of Presidential Educational Institutions Azimjon Jamolov. Ignatiy Tarabrin from Russia became the absolute winner and owner of a special cash prize named after Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valery Lunin.
For Uzbekistan, prestigious competitions have also become successful. According to the results of the Olympiad, the national team of our country won 10 medals, including one gold, four silver and five bronze.
In the previous two years, the Olympiad was held online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
