Schlumberger and Uzbekneftegaz discuss the implementation of GenAI in Uzbekistan’s oil and gas industry
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 15 April 2025, a working meeting was held between representatives of Schlumberger and the joint-stock company Uzbekneftegaz, during which strategic initiatives aimed at implementing advanced digital solutions in the country’s oil and gas industry were discussed.
The main focus was on the integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) into the existing software of Uzbekneftegaz.
The proposed solution involves using GenAI to optimize processes in geology, production, and field development, as well as to improve the speed and accuracy of technical solutions based on the analysis of large datasets.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the initiative to modernize the system for storing, analyzing, and managing geological information accumulated in the company’s deployed database. Schlumberger presented a conceptual approach to applying AI models that ensure the integrity, availability, and analytical depth of geological data, creating a strong foundation for the development of the industry’s digital infrastructure.
An important discussion item was the project to establish a seismic data processing center. This center is seen as a crucial element in forming a comprehensive digital ecosystem that covers all stages of geological exploration—from data collection and systematization to analysis and interpretation.
At the end of the meeting, both parties confirmed their mutual interest in deepening cooperation. Schlumberger expressed its readiness to continue the technological partnership aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of Uzbekistan’s oil and gas sector. Subsequent steps for implementing the discussed projects were agreed upon.
