Sasol Discusses Mining Sector Development with Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 18 March, 2026, Feruza Khamidova, First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Mining and Geology of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with Sasol Executive Vice President for Business, Strategy, and Technology, Sarushen Pillay, along with ministry representatives.

During the meeting, the guests were briefed on recent reforms in Uzbekistan’s mining and geological sectors, the current state of the coal industry, operations of local enterprises, and development plans for the coming years.

Sarushen Pillay noted that Sasol implements projects in South Africa, Mozambique, the United States, Germany, Italy, and Slovakia. He emphasized that since 2009, the company has been involved in the Uzbekistan GTL project as a technology partner, licensor, and provider of technical support.

The parties discussed prospects for further cooperation and opportunities to implement joint projects in Uzbekistan’s mining sector.
