SamAuto to master the production of electric buses by 2022

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 19 November 2020, SamAuto handed over a test electric bus to Toshshahartranskhizmat, which will run on route No. 51 (6th quarter of Yunusabad - Beshagach square), the press service of the company reports.

During operation, SamAuto specialists will monitor and study the feedback from passengers and drivers, as well as the quality and functionality of this model, in order to take them into account when developing your own electric bus.

“The electric bus was produced by BYD, one of the world leaders in the production of electric vehicles. The mileage per charge is 300 km, which corresponds to the average daily mileage of a city bus. A full charge can be done in 3-4 hours at night when the grid load is lower. Electric buses are unpretentious in maintenance, noiseless and require less costs compared to gas and diesel transport,” Ilkhom Yarashev, Deputy General Director for Marketing and Sales of SamAuto, said.

The length of the electric bus is 12 meters, the passenger capacity is 76 people. It is low-floor: thanks to the absence of steps and a podium, passengers (including retirees, passengers with wheelchairs, people with special needs) can freely move around the cabin. Also, the electric bus is equipped with a video surveillance camera and an automatic air conditioning and heating system.

In accordance with the Concept of Environmental Protection until 2030, at least 50% of public transport in Uzbekistan should switch to alternative fuels in order to reduce the emission of harmful substances into the atmosphere.

Samarkand Automobile Plant began its activities in the production of buses, trucks and specialized vehicles in March 1999. In 2006, the Japanese automotive company ISUZU Motors Ltd, a recognized world leader in the production of commercial vehicles and diesel engines, became a technical partner of the plant.

SamAuto gradually increased the number of models of buses, trucks and special vehicles with diesel engines, and also began production of vehicles with engines running on compressed natural gas (CNG). SamAuto also produces pickups D-MAX SAHAR, D-MAX OKSUS, D-MAX IRBIS.
