Samarkand Unveils Project to Create Tourist Streets Based on Tashkent Experience

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A presentation was held in Samarkand on a project to create tourist streets, aimed at applying the successful experience implemented in the old city of Tashkent.

During the event, the planners agreed to develop a dedicated project to transform Alisher Navoi and Pushkin streets into tourist routes.

The project initiators provided a detailed overview of the existing tourist infrastructure and service facilities in Tashkent’s historic center, including architectural solutions, economic efficiency, and the level of comfort for visitors. Special attention was paid to adapting this experience to Samarkand’s rich historical and cultural heritage and urban environment.

The presentation was attended by representatives of the city hokimiyat, the regional finance and economy department, and the tourism administration. Participants discussed the project’s significance for the development of urban infrastructure, the creation of a modern tourist environment, generation of new jobs, and improvement of service quality.

The initiative plans to revamp Alisher Navoi and Pushkin streets according to a unified concept, including the placement of service facilities, creation of comfortable pedestrian zones, and enhancement of the streets’ appeal for tourists.

The project is viewed as an important step in developing Samarkand’s modern tourist infrastructure while preserving the city’s historical character.
