Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the Samarkand region, led by regional governor Adiz Boboev, took part in the prestigious international tourism exhibition MATTA Fair held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The event brought together tourism industry representatives from various countries, providing Samarkand with an opportunity to present its offerings on the global market.
During the exhibition, key negotiations were held with the management of Malaysia Airlines. The main topic of discussion was the launch of direct flights between Samarkand and Malaysia.
The new route is expected to support the development of pilgrimage tourism and strengthen trade, economic, and cultural ties between the two countries. Representatives of the airline highlighted the strong potential of the route and expressed readiness to jointly work on the technical and organizational aspects of launching the flights.
In addition to business meetings, the delegation showcased the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Samarkand region. Visitors received information about Samarkand’s role in world civilization, its ancient landmarks, cultural legacy, and modern tourism infrastructure.
