Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Samarkand International Airport is ready to serve regional and international flights from 10 December.

At the moment, the construction of a new airfield complex has been fully completed, which includes a new runway 3 105 meters long and 60 meters wide, new taxiways and an apron for 24 aircraft stands. Also, at the airfield complex, modern energy-saving light-signaling equipment and a landing system are installed, corresponding to the second category of ICAO. The construction of the airport complex continues.

It should be reminded that the Samarkand airport was closed on 20 October in connection with preparations for the commissioning of a new airfield complex. 

Flights were temporarily redirected to other international airports of the republic - "Navoi", "Bukhara", "Karshi", from where a ground transfer was organized for passengers to Samarkand.
