Saida Mirziyoyeva Honored with Award from Oxford University

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, has been awarded a prestigious honor by Oxford University.

The recognition was given for her active efforts to expand educational opportunities for women, promote initiatives addressing domestic violence, and demonstrate inspiring leadership that strengthens women’s rights and interests.

On 14 October, Saida Mirziyoyeva participated in the official opening ceremony of the Uzbek Studies Program at Oxford University.

Oxford has become the first and only university in the UK to include Uzbek and Old Uzbek (Chagatai) languages in the curriculum of its Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies.

In her speech, Saida Mirziyoyeva emphasized that for many decades Uzbekistan remained a closed country, but today it is more open than ever—for science, technology, progress, and, most importantly, dialogue.

“And what better place to start this dialogue than Oxford—a university where ideas, cultures, and languages of the world intersect, and where education shapes not only individuals but entire nations,” she stated.
