Saida Mirziyoyeva Discusses Reforms and Projects in Uzbekistan with UK Officials and Business Representatives

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva held a series of meetings with representatives of the British government and business community as part of a roadshow in London.

In particular, a meeting was held with the Economic Secretary to the UK Treasury, Lucy Rigby, during which the parties discussed the progress of reforms in Uzbekistan and the country’s prospects for joining the World Trade Organization (WTO). Saida Mirziyoyeva noted the full support of the British government for these key steps in advancing Uzbekistan’s economic development.

She also met with UK Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary David Lammy. The discussions focused on developing human capital, introducing Cambridge educational programs in Uzbek schools, launching Uzbek language study projects at the University of Oxford, and attracting native English-speaking teachers. Both sides emphasized that such joint initiatives strengthen the friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

Representatives of British businesses spoke about their ongoing projects in Uzbekistan and plans for expansion, providing an objective assessment of the country’s business environment. Saida Mirziyoyeva noted that Uzbekistan’s growing reputation and the confidence it enjoys among international business circles reflect the scale of the ongoing transformations and strengthen the country’s position on the global stage.
