Saffron sprouted in Bakhmal district

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In October, the first Italian saffron onion was planted on the land in Bakhmal district of Jizzakh region within a project, implementing jointly with BMB Trade Group and the Italian company Opera SRL.

One month later, the saffron onion sprouted, which was planted in the native land with the prayers, work and kindness of many people!

This is great news not only for the two partner companies but for the entire country. Since the international demand for saffron is very high, the bold entry of Uzbekistan into the world market with this type of product will serve to increase the export potential of our country in a new direction, develop our economy and increase the welfare of our country.

Within the project, over 5 million saffron bulbs planted on 10 hectares were transported from the Italian city of Brescia to Uzbekistan, having overcome 6,800 kilometers and crossed Slovenia, Hungary, Poland, Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan.

The total project cost is over 34.4 million euros, half of which is foreign direct investment. Most of the investment will go towards the purchase and supply of high quality saffron bulbs.
