Sadyk Safoev notes consonance of priorities of Uzbekistan’s Action Strategy and UN Development Goals

He said that for the first time in 27 years, Uzbekistan developed holistic and interrelated strategy, which includes five priority areas for all aspects of public life. It includes improvement of public governance, development of judicial-legal system, wide-scale economic reforms, strong economic policy and ensure security and conducting active foreign policy.

He said that the document is unique as it covers all issues of public development and was widely discussed with participation of people. The document reflects mid-term goals for Uzbekistan.

Safaev said that the action strategy also attracted interest of foreign partners. “For example, when we met with the World Bank Governor, Mr. Miller, he noted the consonance of this vision with the views of the World Bank on further development,” he said.

In the relevant UN statement, it was noted that the Regulation on the Action Strategy of Uzbekistan is entirely, in nature, in content, consistent with the Millennium Goals and the goals of sustainable development. This UN program was adopted two years ago and Uzbekistan, like many other states, signed it. All 17 goals specified in the UN document are consonant with the priorities noted in the Strategy of Uzbekistan.
