Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- By a government resolution, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sadyk Safoev was entrusted with the duties of rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.

Sadyk Safayev is a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of three convocations, was the ambassador of Uzbekistan to Germany (1993 - 1996) and the United States (1996 - 2001), is the chairman of the Rugby Federation of Uzbekistan. He was twice appointed to the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan (1993, 2003 - 2005). From February to November 2005, Safayev was the rector of UWED.

Karimov Khamidovich, former rector of UWED (September 2020 - June 2021) in June 2021 was appointed First Deputy Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
