Russian private clinic network Medsi prepares to open its first clinic in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Russian private clinic network Medsi, part of the AFK Sistema group, plans to open its first clinic in Uzbekistan, according to the publication Vedomosti.
To confirm its plans, the company posted several job vacancies on the HeadHunter platform, listing Tashkent as the workplace: chief physician (announcement dated June 1), HR manager, and chief accountant (announcements dated 23 May).
A Medsi representative confirmed to the publication that the company is preparing to enter the Central Asian market as part of its overall development strategy but declined to disclose details of the upcoming project.
Darya Shubina, CEO of the analytical company Eqiva, estimates that investments in opening a diagnostic center with an area of 1,500 to 2,000 square meters will range from 2.2 to 3.4 million US dollars, while establishing a clinic with inpatient facilities totaling over 3,000 square meters will require investments between 5.4 and 7.2 million US dollars.
Mikhail Burmistrov, CEO of Infoline-Analytics, notes that Medsi may consider several options for entering the Uzbek market: acquiring an existing medical institution, developing via a franchise model, or building its own clinic from scratch.
According to Forbes Russia’s ranking, the Medsi network ranked first among the 20 largest medical companies in 2024, with its revenue reaching 41.7 billion rubles in 2023.
