Russia Prepares Localization Plan for Pharmaceutical Production in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Russia is planning to launch localized production of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment in Uzbekistan, according to the Russian Ministry of Economic Development following a meeting of the bilateral Working Group on Trade Turnover.
The meeting was attended by Russian Minister of Economic Development Maksim Reshetnikov, Deputy Minister Dmitry Volvach, and Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov.
“One of the key items on the agenda was the organization of local production of pharmaceutical products and medical devices in Uzbekistan. The Russian side is preparing a list of medicines for localization, with guaranteed procurement from 2025 through 2034,” the Ministry stated.
The initiative aims to establish a resilient regional pharmaceutical supply system, promote technological cooperation, and strengthen Uzbekistan’s healthcare manufacturing base.
Both sides expressed confidence that this initiative will boost mutual investment and contribute to the modernization of Uzbekistan’s medical infrastructure.
