Russia and Uzbekistan Expand Cooperation in the Construction Industry
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A working meeting took place between Alexander Moor, Head of the All-Russian Center for National Construction Policy, and Ilyos Rakhimov, Acting Chairman of the Uzpromstroymaterialy Association.
During the talks, the parties discussed in detail the current state of Uzbekistan’s construction sector, the potential for infrastructure project development, and ways to expand industrial and investment cooperation. A key topic was the establishment of direct business contacts between Russian developers and construction companies and Uzbek manufacturers of building materials.
The Uzbek side expressed readiness to increase the supply of products from leading national manufacturers. The discussion focused on basalt thermal insulation boards, sanitary ceramics, piping products, and decorative PVC panels. Potential cooperation with Russian companies was also explored, including the establishment of stable export channels for Uzbek products to the Russian market.
Special attention was given to the project of creating a building materials showroom in Kazan, followed by the opening of a similar space in Moscow. These showrooms are intended to showcase Uzbekistan’s modern construction solutions. Work is currently underway to select the most suitable locations.
Alexander Moor emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating: “We see strong prospects for developing this partnership. A showroom in Kazan and direct collaboration with Russian developers will open new opportunities and take our relations to a qualitatively new level.”
In turn, Ilyos Rakhimov noted: “The Association is ready to offer Russian partners a wide range of products. The 'Leaders of the Construction Industry' competition in Yaroslavl has become an interesting and important platform for professional dialogue between specialists from different countries and can serve as the starting point for long-term cooperation.”
The establishment of cooperation between the Center and Uzbek partners aligns fully with the priorities outlined by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin during the International Economic Forum “Russia — Islamic World: KazanForum 2025.” At that event, the Deputy Prime Minister met with representatives of the Uzbek government and issued several directives to develop joint infrastructure and construction projects.
At the time, Marat Khusnullin stated: “Russia and Uzbekistan have significant potential for cooperation in construction and infrastructure. We see promising areas of collaboration — from transport logistics and tourism to the implementation of industrial projects. It is essential to synchronize efforts and accelerate the digital transformation of the construction industry.”
Following KazanForum, several decisions were made, including the creation of working groups to coordinate investment initiatives, the development of North–South transport corridors through Central Asian countries, and the digital integration of logistics and customs processes — all measures that directly affect the efficiency of joint development projects.
In the near future, a joint roadmap is expected to be developed to advance bilateral cooperation. Uzbekistan is also set to participate in the final events of the “Leaders of the Construction Industry” competition in Yaroslavl. Logistics routes for product deliveries to Russia via the Association will be mapped out, and final decisions will be made on the format and location of the showrooms in Kazan and Moscow.
The meeting marked an important milestone in strengthening economic cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan in the construction sector, clearly demonstrating the synergy between the Center’s initiatives and the strategic directives formulated at the governmental level of both countries.
