Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 November, the sixth meeting of the Coordinating Council of the joint project of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Environmental Protection, the United Nations Development Program in Uzbekistan (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) “Complete completion of the hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) in Uzbekistan by promoting energy efficient technologies with zero ozone depleting potential and low global warming potential ” was held.
The purpose of the meeting was to familiarize with the results of the project for 2021, aimed at accelerating the phase-out of ozone-depleting substances (ODS - refrigerants of the HCFC group of chemicals ), to achieve the targets set under the Montreal Protocol and to sustainably reduce the country's dependence on HCFCs in the service and industrial sectors by 2030.
The meeting was opened by Jusipbek Kazbekov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Environmental Protection, and Doina Munteanu, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Uzbekistan. The event, which was held in a hybrid format (online-offline), was attended by members of the Project Coordination Council, namely representatives of ministries and departments, winners of the "Best Startup Project" competition among women entrepreneurs and the competition of knowledge in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning (OKV), as well as partners.
The parties noted the achievements of the joint project for the current period, including legislative, strategic and technical measures to regulate the import / export and use of ODS:
-National program to stop the use of ozone-depleting substances, which provides for the implementation of a unified state policy in the field of regulation of the consumption of ozone-depleting substances (ODS), such as the termination of the import and export of ODS and products containing them in Uzbekistan and the establishment of strict control in this area;
- For the first time, the inclusion of a gender perspective in the National Program to Eliminate the Use of Ozone Depleting Substances. Promoting gender equality in the technical arena proves that women and girls can also be successful in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector;
-Launch of a small-series line (demonstration project) for the production of display refrigerators and chest freezers operating on ozone-safe, energy-efficient technologies with a low global warming potential.
The event began with a prize-giving ceremony for the winners of the competition, where they received service kits for the refrigeration and air-conditioning sector.

Also, during the meeting, Sadokat Siddikova, Director of the Ishga Markhamat monocenter in Bukhara, acquainted the members of the Coordination Council with the activities of the entrepreneurship.
Following the meeting, the annual project plan was discussed and decisions were made to implement the necessary measures in 2022. They also touched upon issues related to the administrative aspects of the project, including the specifics of fulfilling the obligations and contributions of the parties to the successful continuation of the project.
