Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1-2 June, Tashkent hosted the II National Forum "Uzbekistan on the way to development: transformation of agricultural and food research" for representatives of research, management institutions and participants in the agricultural sector.
The forum was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture (AKIS), the International Center for Strategic Development and Research in Food and Agriculture (ISCAD) with the support of the EU, FAO, UNDP and the EU ASK Facility Program.
The second day of the national forum was interesting with active discussions and discussions. In particular, researchers and producers of agricultural products prepared presentations on the results of the first day of work in the sections.
As a result of the Forum, the importance of the effective use of science and innovation to achieve the goals of the National Strategy for the Development of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, as well as strengthening the activities of the Knowledge and Innovation System in Agriculture (AKIS) as a key mechanism for consolidating and directing research, advisory services, education, initiatives and programs.
After analyzing the results of two days of scientific discussions, discussions and practical exercises, Resolution II of the National Forum for Agricultural and Food Research was developed.
For the further development of research in the field of agriculture and the food industry, the Resolution provides:
1) Introduce a three-year funding and monitoring mechanism for the Comprehensive National Agricultural and Food Research Program (NARP) focused on priority development needs through the AKIS Board of Directors;
2) Recognition of the Forum as a kind of legal structure that influences and provides recommendations on research policies and decisions of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and other ministries and departments involved in managing the knowledge and innovation system in agriculture in Uzbekistan.
At the end of the day, the ceremony of presenting the Forum Resolution to representatives of the relevant state bodies took place.
