Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to the Decree on the Strategy of Action on five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021 in the "Year of Supporting Youth and Strengthening the Health of the Population", from the 2021/2022 academic year:
- the President's grant is being introduced for 200 young people who have scored the maximum points in higher education institutions;
- families with 2 or more children studying at higher education institutions on a contract basis are provided with an educational loan;
- private higher education institutions also receive a government grant.
The following procedure for granting academic leave is established:
- Granting academic leave with transfer to correspondence and distance learning;
- granting an academic leave to a family member caring for a sick member;
- restrictions on the provision of academic leave to students are canceled (currently it is granted 2 times during the period of study, and for medical students up to 3 times);
- the practice of retraining students who have returned from academic leave in previously completed subjects is canceled.
From 1 September 2021, the powers to award scientific degrees and scientific titles are gradually transferred to the scientific councils of higher education institutions.
