Restrictions on Crossing “Daut-Ata” and “Tazhen” Checkpoints Extended Until Year-End
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Customs Committee of Uzbekistan announced that restrictions on crossing the border checkpoints “Daut-Ata” (Karakalpakstan) and “Tazhen” (Kazakhstan) have been extended until 31 December.
The measures apply to individuals, passenger cars, buses, and trucks with a maximum authorized weight of up to 3.5 tons. Vehicles exceeding this limit remain allowed to pass.
The extension is due to ongoing construction and reconstruction work at the Tazhen checkpoint in Kazakhstan, including major repairs of administrative buildings and concreting of road surfaces.
For passengers, additional railway services have been organized: trains now run via the Karakalpakstan checkpoint on the Nukus–Beineu route.
Restrictions at these checkpoints were initially introduced on February 1 of this year for three months, later extended to September 1, and are now further prolonged until the end of 2025.
