Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the twenty-seventh plenary session of the Senate, the Law "On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the adoption of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On transplantation of human organs and tissues" was discussed.
It was noted at the meeting that after the adoption of the Law “On Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues”, the number of requests from compatriots regarding kidney and liver transplantation is increasing.
This Law for violation of the norms of legislation in the field of transplantation envisages the introduction of amendments and additions to the Criminal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as the laws "On Combating Trafficking in Human Beings" and "On Burial and Funeral Business".
Thus, it stipulates the establishment of liability for violation of the established conditions and procedure for the removal, transplantation of human organs and tissues, as well as the removal of organs or tissues of a deceased person for conservation for scientific or educational purposes without his lifetime consent, the sale and purchase of human organs and tissues, export for limits of the Republic of Uzbekistan of transplanted human organs and tissues.
In addition, liability is established for kidnapping or human trafficking for the purpose of removing human organs and tissues. This is a cause of concern for many people.
The committee that submitted the Law for discussion at the plenary session noted that this legal act was initially considered jointly with a working group from among representatives of interested ministries and departments, scientific circles, opinions of deputies of local Kengashes were received in order to ensure a balance of state and territorial interests.
The law was approved by the senators.
