Resident population of Uzbekistan reaches 35.82 million people

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As of October 1, 2022, the resident population of the Republic of Uzbekistan amounted to 35 821.0 thousand people, having increased by 549.7 thousand people, or 1.6%, since the beginning of this year. In particular, the urban population reached 18 234.7 thousand people (50.9% of the total population), rural – 17 586.3 thousand people (49.1%).

As of October 1, 2022, in the permanent population of the republic, children under working age made up 31.7%, people of working age - 57.0% and older than working age - 11.3%.

As of October 1, 2022, the city of Namangan has the largest number of permanent residents - 673.8 thousand people, the city of Samarkand - 570.4 thousand people, Urgut district - 541.7 thousand people, the city of Andijan - 465.7 thousand people and Denau district - 407.1 thousand people.

As of October 1, 2022, the districts with the youngest average age of the population were Chirakchi - 25.6 years, Uzun - 26.0 years, Urgut - 26.1 years, Koshrabad - 26.5 years and Bakhmal district - 26.5 years.

In the Republic of Uzbekistan, the highest rate is for children under the age of 4 among boys - 11.2% and among girls - 10.5%.

Based on data on the composition of the resident population of the CIS countries by gender and age groups, it follows that as of January 1, 2022, the highest share falls on people over 65 years old, men - 9.8%, and women - 16.5%.

The distribution of the permanent population of the CIS countries showed that the main share of the population is the Russian Federation (51.3%), followed by the Republic of Ukraine (14.6%), the Republic of Uzbekistan (11.9%), the Republic of Kazakhstan (6.5%), the Republic of Azerbaijan (3.5%), Belarus (3.3%), the Republic of Tajikistan (3.2%), the Kyrgyz Republic (2.3%), the Republic of Turkmenistan (1.5%), the Republic of Armenia (1.0%) and the Republic of Moldova (0.9%).

As of January 1, 2022, the average life expectancy of the population of the Republic of Uzbekistan is 73.8 years. It is equal to 71.7 for men and 75.8 for women. The average life expectancy for urban and rural areas is the same and is 73.8 years.

As of October 1, 2022, the population density in the country was 79.8 people per square kilometer. This is 1.7 people more when compared with the same period in 2021 (78.1 people per 1 sq. km in 2021).

In terms of regions, the highest population density is 6 549.4 people in the city of Tashkent, 768.4 - in Andijan region, 584.9 - in Fergana region, 400.4 - in Namangan region, 244.2 - in Samarkand region, the lowest indicators were recorded in Navoi region - 9.5, the Republic of Karakalpakstan - 11.8, Bukhara region - 49.7, Jizzakh region - 69.1 and Kashkadarya region - 121.2 people.

In January-September 2022, 681.8 thousand children were registered, respectively, the birth rate per 1000 population was 25.6 ppm and, compared to the same period in 2021, decreased by 0.2 ppm (for 2021, 25.8 ppm).

If we consider the age of fathers of babies born in January-September 2022, then 11.1% of persons were under the age of 25, 83.1% were aged 25-39 years and 5.8% were aged 40 years and older. In addition, 39.4% of newborns had mothers under 25 years of age, 59.6% were 25-39 years old, and 1.0% of infants had mothers 40 years of age or older.

Districts and cities with the highest birth rate per 1 000 population in January-September 2022: Gulistan city - 71.7 ppm, Chirakchi district - 43.6 Navoi city - 34.1 Sergeli district - 33.1 and Yangiyer city - 33.0 ppm.

In January-September 2022, 130.4 thousand deaths were registered, the mortality rate per 1000 population was 4.9 ppm and, compared to 2021, it decreased by 0.2 ppm (in January-September 2021, this indicator was 5.1 ppm).

Of the total number of registered deaths in January-September 2022, 56.8% were diseases of the circulatory system, 8.2% - neoplasms, 9.8% - respiratory diseases, 5.6% - accidents, poisoning and injuries, 4.0% - diseases of the digestive system, 1.5% - infectious and parasitic diseases and 14.1% - other diseases.

By age groups for January-September 2022, 19.1% of the dead were young people under 20 years old, people 20-59 years old - 24.5%, and people aged 60 years and older - 56.4%.

In January-September 2022, 197.0 thousand marriages were registered, the marriage rate per 1000 population was 7.4 ppm and, compared to 2021 (in January-September 2021, it was 7.9 ppm), it decreased by 0.5 ppm.

In January-September 2022, 36.5 thousand divorces were registered, the divorce rate per 1000 population was 1.4 ppm, which is 0.3 ppm more compared to 2021 (in January-September 2021, this indicator was 1.1 ppm).

In January-September 2022, 30.9% of all divorced people in the republic were childless, 45.8% were divorced with one child, and 23.3% with two or more children.

In January-September 2022, the average age of divorced men was 39.6 years and 33.4 years for women. The largest proportion of divorces falls on the age of up to 35 years, which is 50.5% of all divorces.

Districts and cities with the lowest divorce rate per 1000 population in JanuarySeptember 2022: Kokdala district - 0.3 ppm, Dekhkanabad district - 0.4 Gozgon city - 0.4 Kasan district - 0.6 and Urgut district - 0.7 ppm.

In January-September 2022, the total number of arrivals amounted to 166 909 people, including 165 420 of them from other regions of the republic, and 1 489 people from abroad. The total number of those who left reached 168 571 people, including 165 420 of them left for other regions, 3 151 people left for foreign countries, the migration balance was minus 1 662 people

In January-September 2022, 166.9 thousand arrivals were registered, the migration rate per 1000 inhabitants was 6.3 ppm and, if compared with 2021, it decreased by 1.5 ppm (in January-September 2021, this figure was 7.8 ppm).

In January-September 2022, 168.6 thousand people who left were registered, the migration rate per 1 000 people of the population was 6.3 ppm and, compared to 2021, it decreased by 2.2 ppm (in January-September 2021, 8.5 ppm).

The largest share of those who arrived for permanent residence from abroad in the Republic of Uzbekistan (in% of their total number) falls on those who arrived from Kazakhstan (35.2%), the Russian Federation (31.9%) and Tajikistan (7.3%). Kyrgyzstan accounts for 4.8% of arrivals, Turkmenistan - 1.3%, other countries - 19.5%.

The largest share of those who left for permanent residence from Uzbekistan (in % of their total number) falls on Kazakhstan - 69.7% and the Russian Federation - 25.1%. 0.9% left for Tajikistan, 0.9% for Kyrgyzstan, 0.6% for Turkmenistan, and 2.8% for other countries.
