Resident of Tashkent Region Sentenced to Three Years for Inciting National Hatred

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  The Supreme Court has announced the sentencing of a citizen who insulted fellow Uzbeks online.

According to the decision of the Nurafshan City Criminal Court, V.D. (born in 1999, Tashkent Region) was found guilty under Part 2 of Article 156 of the Criminal Code (incitement of national, racial, ethnic, or religious hatred) and Part 3 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code (assault on the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan). He was sentenced to three years and one month of imprisonment.

The sentence will be served in correctional colonies.

The parties involved have been informed of their right, in accordance with the law, to appeal or file a cassation with the Criminal Panel of the Tashkent Regional Court, as well as to lodge a protest against the first-instance verdict.

Blogger Valeriy Yugay, known on social media under the pseudonym “Abdulloh,” filmed videos in South Korea in October–November 2024, allegedly to attract attention and increase his audience. After the videos drew the attention of law enforcement, Yugay was placed on the international wanted list. In March 2025, he was detained in Abu Dhabi and extradited to Uzbekistan.

During the investigation, the blogger admitted his guilt and apologized to his fellow citizens.
