Republican Commission on Export Potential Development works with entrepreneurs of Surkhandarya region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Between 31 March - 2 April, members of the Republican Commission for the Development of Export Potential of Regions and Industries carried out work in districts and cities of Surkhandarya region, the purpose of which was to monitor economic activity in the context of the complicated economic situation that has developed for the spread of coronavirus infection.

Working groups composed of heads of ministries, departments, commercial banks, local authorities and diplomatic missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan abroad, observing the quarantine requirements, visited enterprises, talked with investment project initiators and exporters, identified problems and developed effective mechanisms to solve them directly on the spot.

In total, during the visit of the Republican Commission to Surkhandarya region, the activities of 750 enterprises were studied, as a result of which 406 entrepreneurs implementing investment projects found problematic issues. Targeted solutions were developed and implemented: 296 enterprises restructured their existing loans, 69 provided targeted support in sending foreign specialists to Uzbekistan to install equipment, 9 land plots, buildings and structures were allocated to entrepreneurs, 6 enterprises received support for connecting to utilities, and a number of other issues have been resolved.

In addition, a deep and detailed analysis of the activities of all 155 enterprises exporting the region was carried out, which showed the difficulties for 54 entrepreneurs, including 14 identified the need for new loans in order to replenish working capital, 4 had no foreign customers to sell products to export and 37 - issues related to the extension of existing loans, reimbursement of previously paid amounts of VAT, the allocation of land, ensuring uninterrupted electricity and gas supply. All identified issues were resolved promptly due to the close coordination of the responsible state bodies and the active participation of commercial banks.

Work with business representatives of Surkhandarya region will continue on the basis of established mechanisms for interagency cooperation, which will significantly reduce the negative impact of global crisis phenomena in the global economy on socio-economic processes in the region’s economy.

Summing up the results of activities in Surkhandarya region, the Commission went to Kashkadarya region to provide operational and targeted support to entrepreneurs in the region.
