Representatives of the Uzcharmsanoat Association briefed about CATI portal

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Representatives of the Uzcharmsanoat Association took part in a webinar on the capabilities of the Central Asian Trade Information Portal (CATI), which was created by the UNDP Trade Facilitation Project with the support of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade Uzbekistan and the UNCTAD / WTO International Trade Center.

The event, which was held in the format of an online videoconference, was attended by representatives of the public sector of Uzbekistan, the Uzcharmsanoat Association, as well as representatives of Uzbek private business, among which are domestic manufacturers that are members of the Association.

Analyst of the International Trade Center, Ms. Elodie Robin, in her speech spoke in detail about the work of the CATI portal, which is a joint initiative of UNDP and ITC aimed at strengthening the export potential and regional integration of the Central Asian countries by providing exporting enterprises with important information, such as: trade flows, tariffs, export and import requirements, mandatory quality requirements and standards.

The portal provides free and up-to-date market and trade information to help SMEs make trade and investment decisions. It is a single entry point to trade statistics, tariffs, official regulations and business contacts in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, as well as in the European Union countries. The portal is supplemented with information̆ on the quality requirements for the export of products with great export potential for four countries.

It was noted at the meeting that the Portal uses three tools of the International Trade Center for market analysis. Among them: "Map of Trade", "Map of Access to Markets" and ePing. All three tools are focused on the Central Asian countries, which allows the Portal to help exporters, importers, investors and organizations effectively search for new trade and business opportunities.

During the webinar, participants were given detailed explanations on how to use the CATI portal functionality to search for export markets and identify new opportunities for developing ties.

As a result of the meeting, detailed answers were given to all questions of the listeners.
