Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 December 2021, a meeting was held with the participation of representatives of the State Statistics Committee and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
The event was attended by the heads of the Central Office Departments headed by the Chairman of the State Statistics Committee Bakhodir Begalov, as well as the head of the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Uzbekistan Munir Mammadzade and experts.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the quality of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys based on international requirements and recommendations. The head of the UNICEF Office in Uzbekistan Munir Mammadzadeh spoke on this topic. He talked about what should be paid attention to when conducting a survey of MICS, how the foreign experience in this direction is going.
As a reminder, the expert on household survey of the UNICEF regional office, Ms. Tiana Komich, took part in the processes of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) conducted in the regions of our country.
It should be noted that on 24 July 2019, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution "On Conducting a Multi-Indicator Cluster Survey in the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2020-2021". Based on this decree, the government, with the support of UNICEF, is carrying out various measures to conduct monitoring in the country to generate important statistics on the lifestyle of mothers and children.
Data and indicators will be important for tracking Uzbekistan’s progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and will be included in international databases. It is important to note that they are also necessary for decision-making, planning and implementation of national policies, development programs and social services.
At the end of the meeting, UNICEF representatives also touched upon long-term plans for further cooperation.
