Registration procedure for foreign citizens simplified

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution “On measures to simplify the procedure for registration of foreign citizens and stateless persons in the Republic of Uzbekistan.”

The resolution was adopted in accordance with the Presidential Decree "On measures to reform the procedure for permanent registration and registration at the place of stay."

The document approved:

Regulations on the procedure for registering foreign citizens and stateless persons at the place of temporary stay on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan (1);

Regulations on the procedure for registering foreign citizens and stateless persons at the place of permanent residence in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and regions (2);

Regulations on the procedure for registering foreign citizens and stateless persons at the place of permanent residence in the city of Tashkent and the Tashkent region (3).

Regulation (1) applies to foreign citizens and stateless persons (LBGs) who arrived from foreign countries with a residence permit or ID card of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as to persons permanently residing in other territories of the republic. For these categories of persons, the document determines the procedure for temporary registration through the electronic systems of migration units and registration of citizenship of internal affairs bodies, accommodation facilities or medical institutions.

Regulation (2) determines the procedure for granting foreign citizens and LBGs who arrived from foreign countries who have a residence permit or an ID-card of Uzbekistan, persons permanently residing in other territories of the republic of permits for permanent residence in the republic, as well as the registration procedure at the place of permanent residing on the territory of the republic of this category of persons.

The document also defines the orders:

permanent registration in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and regions;

registration of moving to another place;

departure to a foreign country;

termination of the residence permit and permanent registration.

The Regulations prescribe the following procedures:

issuance to foreign citizens and LBG who arrived in the region from foreign countries, obtaining a permanent residence permit;

permanent registration in the field of foreign citizens and LBG permanently residing in other territories of the republic;

termination of the residence permit and permanent registration of a foreign citizen and LBG permanently residing in the region.

Regulation (3) defines the following orders:

permanent registration and issuance of a permanent residence permit for foreign citizens and LBG in Tashkent city and Tashkent region;

registration of moving to another place, departure to a foreign state;

termination of the residence permit and permanent registration of a foreign citizen and LBG permanently residing in Tashkent and the Tashkent region.

Provisions (2-3) do not apply to foreign citizens and stateless persons who arrived in Uzbekistan in accordance with the legislation on an electronic tourist visa, or without a visa for up to 60 days, as well as to employees of diplomatic missions, consular offices of foreign states, missions international organizations and their families.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Finance, and the State Committee for Tourism, were instructed until 1 January 2021, within the framework of practical measures to further simplify the procedures for registering foreign citizens and stateless persons, to ensure the creation of conditions for paying the state duty for services rendered remotely, through the billing system, Norma reports.

The document was published in the state language in the National Legislation Database and entered into force on September 29, 2020.
