Reformatiks Studies Ferghana’s Tourism Potential as Part of Uzbekistan’s 2040 Tourism Development Strategy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputy Hokim of the Ferghana region Khurshidjon Akhmedov met with Otari Berdzenishvili, representative of the Georgian company Reformatiks.

During the meeting, it was noted that Uzbekistan is currently developing a Tourism Development Strategy through 2040, within which Reformatiks specialists are actively studying various regions of the country.

The visit to Ferghana was part of this work. Based on the company’s assessments, it was emphasized that Ferghana has the potential to become a driving force for tourism development in Uzbekistan.

Since 2017, Reformatiks has been conducting research in Uzbekistan’s emerging economic sectors and has presented two interim reports to date. These reports have focused on modernizing tourism infrastructure, expanding private sector and investor participation, improving service quality in hotels, historical monuments, and pilgrimage sites, as well as promoting Uzbek regions internationally.

Khurshidjon Akhmedov gave a detailed overview of Ferghana’s tourism potential, highlighting its historical landmarks, archaeological sites, eco- and gastronomic attractions, and growing visitor appeal.

He also stressed the active development of medical tourism and agrotourism. It was noted that hosting various international forums and festivals has become a valuable tradition that contributes to the industry’s growth.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to explore opportunities for cooperation with the foreign company in enhancing tourist infrastructure, improving service quality, and introducing new travel routes across the region.
