Reconstruction of Underground Tunnel Nears Completion in Yashnabad District
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Reconstruction work is actively underway on the underground tunnel on Makhtumkuli Street in the Yashnabad district of Tashkent, according to the city administration.
The project covers both sides of the 410-meter-long tunnel. As part of the modernization, metal structures covering 8,000 square meters are being installed, 5,200 square meters of travertine cladding applied, and marble and plinth work on about 1,000 square meters carried out. Additionally, 38 decorative panels are being mounted.
Once completed, the tunnel will feature a modern and visually striking design, with a new architectural lighting system operating at night.
Decorative metal railings are also being installed on the railway and road bridges located above the tunnel.
The project involves 118 specialists and six units of machinery, with all work scheduled for completion by 5 November 2025.
