Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is gaining strength in the context of the formation of new international relations. This was stated by Professor of the Academy of Civil Service under the President of Tajikistan, former SCO Secretary General Rashid Alimov.
According to him, the importance of the organization in the world will grow. Its international authority will be confirmed by the upcoming summit of the heads of the SCO member states in Samarkand.
"The SCO summit is expected not only to decide on the admission of Iran, but is also likely to consider the issue of launching the procedure for the admission of the next candidate," Alimov shared the details.
He added that now about 10 applications are expressing wish to join the organization.
The SCO is neither a military-political nor an economic union. Its strength is the equality and unity of the participating states, the expert emphasized.
The summit of the organization in Samarkand will be of great importance for the establishment of world peace, for international security and for the future of all human civilization, the expert concluded.
