Rail freight tariffs to increase in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekiston Temir Yollari (Uzbekistan Railways) is raising tariffs for domestic rail freight services.
Effective from 15 January 2025, revised coefficients for tariffs on infrastructure use (general-purpose tracks) and locomotives, as outlined in Price List 10-01, will be implemented.
The new coefficients are as follows:
- 0.814 for routes involving the Tashguzar–Baysun–Kumkurgan line;
- 0.921 for routes using the Angren–Pap line;
- 0.921 for routes involving both the Tashguzar–Baysun–Kumkurgan and Angren–Pap lines;
- 0.774 for routes excluding the specified lines.
The last increase in coefficients occurred in October 2023. Additionally, in November this year, the company announced a 30% increase in rates for inventory wagons used for domestic freight transportation.
The updated Law on Railway Transport introduces market-based pricing for freight services, which includes the cancellation of domestic transportation discounts. However, such discounts may still be granted under special decisions by the Cabinet of Ministers.
