Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- National Coordinator of Uzbekistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Rakhmatulla Nurimbetov commented on the news about moving away from the dollar and the euro and creating a payment system in national currencies, which was announced at the Eastern Economic Forum, where the Institute of China and in Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences held a session on the Role of the SCO in a Changing World.
“There is no question of switching to national currencies in mutual trade within the SCO. We are talking about a draft document that does not have a conceptual and, moreover, legal character. The draft roadmap has not yet been finalized, and some SCO countries are not participating in its development. I emphasize once again that the road map is not a legal document. Even if the document is agreed upon and approved, the mechanism for switching to mutual settlements in national currencies in the mutual trade of the parties involved will not be automatically launched,” Rakhmatulla Nurimbetov said.
