Prospects of international cooperation between Japan and Uzbekistan in the field of healthcare in a new era discussed in Tokyo

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the city of Tokyo, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Silk Road Uzbekistan-Japan Foundation organized a seminar with the participation of representatives of ministries and the business community of Japan on the topic: “Prospects of international cooperation between Japan and Uzbekistan in the field of health in new era”.

During the seminar, the participants were familiarized in detail with the large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan, as well as the investment potential of the country, especially in the field of medicine and healthcare. It was emphasized that the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors are rapidly developing in Uzbekistan, there is great potential for the development of the medical services sector on the basis of public-private partnerships.

In this regard, the Japanese partners were invited to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan and actively implement new promising innovative projects in these areas.

During the speeches of the Japanese representatives, a powerful impetus was once again noted, which was given to the development of bilateral relations following the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in December 2020.

Representatives of the METI, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health of Japan and JAIKA briefed the participants on the ongoing work to develop Japan's international cooperation in the health sector, as well as the prospects for cooperation with Uzbekistan. 

At the same time, special attention was paid to the discussion of new areas of interaction in the form of public-private partnership in the field of healthcare. In particular, the Japanese companies "Daido Industries, Inc." and "ITEC" expressed their readiness to develop cooperation with Uzbekistan and acquainted with specific projects in the field of healthcare.

As a result of the seminar, an agreement was reached on the continuation of practical contacts between the official and business circles of Japan and Uzbekistan and the organization of a visit of a Japanese delegation of businessmen to Tashkent to conduct substantive negotiations on specific projects of cooperation in the field of healthcare.
