Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 November 2022, in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism R. Alimov with a delegation of deputies of the Seimas of the Republic of Poland headed by the Chairman inter-parliamentary group "Poland - Uzbekistan" Pavel Beida.
During the meeting, the state and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation, including through inter-parliamentary contacts, were discussed.
It was noted that Poland is an important partner of Uzbekistan, with which our country has close friendly ties.
Mutual interest was expressed in intensifying interaction between the legislative bodies of the two countries in areas of mutual interest.
The Polish parliamentarians fully support the positive trends and new agreements in the development of cooperation between the EU-Uzbekistan and the EU-Central Asia.
The parties dwelled in detail on the prospects for building up trade and economic ties, exchanged views on the prospects for the implementation of investment projects with the participation of Polish companies in the regions of Uzbekistan.
In addition, the parties agreed to intensify cooperation in the field of labor migration.
In turn, Beida expressed interest in organizing mutual visits of parliamentary delegations, intensifying interaction between the chambers of parliaments of the two countries in the format of friendship groups and specialized committees, aimed at all-round assistance in the practical implementation of bilateral agreements at various levels, exchange of experience in lawmaking, development of direct ties between the regions of the two countries.
The parties also discussed the development of cooperation in the field of education. Long-term contacts have been established between the leading universities of Uzbekistan and Poland.
In particular, the National University of Uzbekistan cooperates with Warsaw University, Tashkent State Agrarian University - with Warsaw Agricultural University, Tashkent Medical Academy - with the Academy of Medicine of Poland, Banking and Finance Academy - with the Warsaw Banking Institute, etc.
Polish parliamentarians expressed interest in further expanding cooperation in this area.
