Prospects for Cooperation with China Eximbank Discussed
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 19 June, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhomjon Umurzakov held a meeting with a delegation led by Chen Huai, Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the People's Republic of China.
Both sides emphasized the importance of intensifying bilateral cooperation in light of the agreements reached at the second “Central Asia–China” summit between the heads of state.
The discussions focused on financing joint infrastructure projects in the fields of hydropower, transportation, and telecommunications. Particular attention was given to initiatives implemented under public-private partnership (PPP) frameworks.
Representatives of China Eximbank expressed strong appreciation for Uzbekistan’s stable position in international rankings and the favorable conditions being created in the country for foreign investors. They also explored prospects for expanded cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The talks further addressed new proposals for supporting entrepreneurial activity and attracting investment into the industrial sector.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue consultations on international financial markets, infrastructure development, investment promotion, and financial stability.
