Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 22 October 2021, a meeting was held between the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodyk Safoev with the director of the Indo-Pacific Program of the Center for New American Security Lisa Curtis (CNAS).
During the conversation, L. Curtis noted that it was not the first time she was coming to Uzbekistan, and she saw that great changes had taken place in the country in recent years. A high assessment was given to the consistent reforms in Uzbekistan over the past 5 years in the field of state and social construction, improving the business environment and investment climate, strengthening friendship and good neighborliness with the countries of Central Asia. In addition, the active foreign policy activity of Uzbekistan on the development of relations with foreign states was emphasized.
Lisa Curtis expressed confidence that the upcoming voting in the presidential elections will be organized on the principles of openness and transparency.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
