Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Prosecutor General’s Office is conducting a preliminary investigation in a criminal case initiated under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the riots committed in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

The formed investigative group of the Prosecutor General’s Office is entrusted with the task of identifying all the facts of the incidents that have occurred, conducting investigative actions impartially and in strict accordance with the law. 

As part of the criminal case, 14 people were detained in accordance with Article 277 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

In particular, Tajimuratov D.M. and Turdanov A.T. charged under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. A measure of restraint in the form of detention was applied against them by a court decision.

In the actions of Kallykhanova L.O. signs of crimes encroaching on public safety are established. She was involved as a suspect in the case and was detained in a procedural manner.

Ensuring respect for the honor and dignity of the persons participating in the case, the prevention of torture, violence and other cruel or degrading acts of honor and dignity of a person has been taken under special control.

Investigative actions are carried out with the full provision of the rights of suspects and accused persons to defense, in places of detention they are provided with all the conditions provided for by law. There are no complaints about the health and conditions of their detention.
