Prominent experts of the “think tanks” of the OTS member states and observers discussed the results of the Samarkand summit

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The international conference "Samarkand OTS summit: main results and prospects for the development of cooperation" started today in Tashkent.

The event, which takes place with the online connection of foreign participants, is organized by the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the support of the International Institute of Central Asia.

More than 20 representatives of leading analytical centers of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Hungary, as well as the Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) take part in the conference.

Director of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Eldor Aripov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Gairat Fazylov, Deputy Secretary General of the OTS Gismat Gozalov, Deputy Director of the International Institute of Central Asia Fanil Kadyrov addressed the participants of the event with a welcoming speech.

The representative composition of the forum participants made it possible to discuss the main results of the First OTS Summit in Samarkand, including its significance, as well as important initiatives put forward by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the sidelines of the event.

During the conference, it was emphasized that during the period between the summits in Istanbul and Samarkand, the OTS demonstrated an unprecedented activity of its structures, both in terms of filling the practical content of previously reached agreements, and in developing new projects within the framework of the implementation of the strategy "Vision of the Turkic World 2040".

In this regard, Uzbekistan has become an important platform for various events under the auspices of the Organization of Turkic States.

So, just recently, the 8th meeting of the analytical centers of the Turkic countries, the meeting of the Ministers of Transport, the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the OTS, etc. have been held in Uzbekistan.

The culminating conclusion of all these events was the First OTS summit in Samarkand on the topic "New era of Turkic civilization: on the way to common development and prosperity."

According to experts, the summit provided a high-level platform for discussing the Organization's broad agenda. Among them are such priority topics for Uzbekistan and other countries of the region as creating favorable conditions for mutual trade and investment cooperation, developing cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics, energy, agriculture, and tourism.

To consider the full range of issues on the agenda of the International Conference "Samarkand OTS Summit: main results and prospects for the development of cooperation", exchange of views on the results and main results of the summit, clarification of the essence and significance of the initiatives put forward by the President of Uzbekistan.

The work of the forum is divided into two sessions:

First: "The Samarkand Declaration is a new impetus to the development of the integration of the Turkic states in modern geopolitical conditions."

Second: "The organization of Turkic states as an institutional basis for promoting comprehensive cooperation and coordination of efforts to ensure peace and security in the region."

The conclusions, assessments and proposals made during the presentations of experts and discussions at the forum will contribute to a deeper understanding of the relationship, as well as finding common guidelines in the context of strengthening ties between the Turkic countries.

On 11 November, Samarkand hosted the first summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) chaired by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev under the slogan "New era of Turkic civilization: on the way to common development and prosperity."

The meeting was attended by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban.

More than 10 multilateral documents were adopted as a result of negotiations at the summit.

The agreed positions of the member states on topical issues on the international agenda were recorded in the adopted Samarkand Declaration, the main final document of the summit.

The “OTS Strategy for 2022-2026” was also adopted as part of the implementation of the concept “Vision of the Turkic World - 2040”, the practical implementation of which will allow launching interaction in various areas between the countries of the Organization. A breakthrough was the decision on the imminent creation of the Turkic Investment Fund.

On the sidelines of the summit, the Agreement on International Combined Cargo Transportation and the Program for Transport Interconnection were also signed.

The summit ended the presidency of the Republic of Turkey, which passed to Uzbekistan.

The Member States unanimously supported the proposal of the President of Uzbekistan to declare the next year the "Year of the Rise of the Turkic Civilization".
