On 22 December, the Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On additional measures to improve procedure for mandatory technical inspection of vehicles”.
The document said that starting from 1 January 2018, it is planned to transfer the functions of the units of the State Road Safety Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan (SRSS) to legal entities in part of the mandatory technical inspection of cars.
At the same time, the SRSS subdivisions will retain the functions of technical inspection of cargo, passenger and special vehicles.
According to the document, from 1 January 2019, compulsory technical inspection of cars of individuals will be carried out by business entities - legal entities.
To carry out the inspection, private companies will have to have an accredited "Uzstandard" production and technical base with the necessary equipment.
The government instructed the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Finance to review, before 15 January 2018, the size of payments for mandatory inspection. The government instructed to introduce differentiated rates for legal entities and individuals, taking into account the vehicle category.
