Priority areas of inter-parliamentary cooperation with Russia and Kazakhstan discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of her participation in the solemn meeting of the Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS member countries in Almaty, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva held talks with the heads of parliaments of individual CIS countries.

It should be reminded that the heads of the national legislative bodies of the Commonwealth countries took part in the events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Assembly.

Thus, on 29 March, during a meeting with the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko, issues of deepening bilateral cooperation and inter-parliamentary relations were discussed.

Valentina Matvienko highly appreciated the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The prospects for expanding cooperation in the areas of trade, economy and culture were also considered.

Head of the Senate Tanzilka Narbayeva noted that parliamentary diplomacy is recognized as an important foreign policy resource in resolving bilateral relations and other topical issues.

There was also an exchange of views on holding cultural events with the participation of parliamentarians of the two countries, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Russia.

On the same day, the head of the Uzbek delegation Tanzila Narbaeva met with the chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbaev.

During the conversation, detailed information was given on the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, the main positions of the country.

The priority areas of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the field of ensuring gender equality, the implementation of youth policy, as well as joint actions in trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres were also discussed.

An agreement was reached to establish joint educational projects in the field of science and ecology, aimed at deepening ties between the youth of the two countries. In particular, these issues will be the subject of discussion within the agenda of the upcoming meeting of the joint Commission on cooperation between the upper houses of the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, which will be held in April this year in Kyzylorda.
