Prime ministers of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan hold talks

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov met with the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Japarov in Bishkek.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the first economic forum "European Union - Central Asia".

Akylbek Japarov noted that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the comprehensive development of Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations, deepening mutually beneficial multifaceted cooperation.

He said that the launch of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek Development Fund will have a significant impact on the start of the practical implementation of the agreements reflected in the plan of practical measures ("Road Map") to expand and deepen cooperation between the two countries in the field of industrial cooperation, involving the implementation of about 60 projects.

Japarov stressed that Uzbekistan had completed the domestic procedures for the establishment of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek Development Fund recently.

The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed gratitude to the Uzbek side for providing technical assistance in the construction of two secondary schools in Batken region and the reconstruction of the Osh Academic Music and Drama Theater named after Babur.

The Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov noted the commitment to the further development of bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest, the intensification of cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere and the further development of trade and economic cooperation.

The parties discussed the supply of electricity from Uzbekistan, transit of electricity and natural gas from Turkmenistan through the territory of Uzbekistan, construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, the Irkeshtam-Daroot-Korgon-Kyzyl-Kiya highway, a trade and logistics center in the city of Kyzyl-Kiya and Kambar-Ata HPP-1.

The parties discussed issues of cooperation in the fields of agriculture and industry.
