Prime Ministers of Uzbekistan and Georgia discuss ways to expand cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov.

According to the press service of the Georgian government, during the negotiations, both sides emphasized the positive dynamics of bilateral cooperation, the high level of dialogue, and the prospects for further deepening their partnership in various fields.

Discussions focused on the role of relevant ministries and the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Georgia and Uzbekistan in strengthening bilateral economic ties. It was noted that both countries are reliable trade partners and that the existing potential must be fully utilized to increase trade turnover.

Irakli Kobakhidze expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and friendly attitude towards the Georgian delegation, highlighting the rapid development of Uzbek-Georgian relations. He stated that Georgia is impressed by the reforms and transformations taking place in Uzbekistan and extended an invitation to Abdulla Aripov for an official visit to Georgia.

Kobakhidze emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation across various sectors, particularly in the economic sphere. He noted that the two countries could expand their partnership in the field of investments, as Uzbekistan’s favorable investment climate is attractive to Georgian businesses, while Georgia, in turn, is ready to offer appealing conditions for potential investors.

Special attention was given to the development of the Middle Corridor. The Georgian Prime Minister underlined his country’s strategic location, historically connecting both Europe and Asia, and expressed confidence that active cooperation between Georgia and Uzbekistan would bring significant benefits to both nations.

For his part, Abdulla Aripov noted the positive momentum in the development of Uzbek-Georgian relations, stressing that they are based on principles of mutual trust and respect and encompass all key areas. He highlighted the increasing interaction across various economic sectors, the growing volume of mutual trade, the implementation of joint projects, and the expansion of cultural, humanitarian, and interregional ties.

The Uzbek Prime Minister reaffirmed Tashkent’s openness to close and constructive cooperation with Georgia on both bilateral and multilateral levels. He stressed that the primary task of the two governments is to ensure the timely implementation of agreements reached and to develop new proposals for further advancing relations.

Abdulla Aripov expressed confidence that Irakli Kobakhidze’s first official visit to Uzbekistan as Georgia’s Prime Minister would mark an important step in strengthening bilateral ties and provide new impetus to cooperation between the two countries.
