Presidents of Uzbekistan and Türkiye Conclude Productive Talks

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Following the fourth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council held in Ankara, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered joint statements to the press.

Opening his address, the Uzbek President expressed sincere gratitude to the Turkish President for the warm welcome and the substantive, results-oriented discussions held during the council meeting. He particularly emphasized that modern Türkiye is achieving significant progress across all spheres of development and enjoys high prestige not only in the Muslim world but also on the international stage.

It was noted with satisfaction that Uzbek-Turkish relations of friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership have reached a qualitatively new level in recent years. Last year, bilateral trade exceeded US$3 billion, the number of joint ventures reached 2,200, and total investment amounted to around US$10 billion. Approximately 100 weekly flights operate between the two countries, and leading Turkish companies have formed an investment portfolio of projects totaling US$9 billion.

The leaders confirmed their commitment to regularly convening the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council and to effectively utilizing the mechanisms of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Strategic Planning Group. They underscored their readiness to continue mutual support within reputable international and regional organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Organization of Turkic States.

An agreement was reached on practical measures to increase bilateral trade to US$5 billion, including through expanding the range of goods under the Preferential Trade Agreement and strengthening industrial cooperation in priority sectors of the economy. Particular attention was given to further developing cultural and humanitarian cooperation, including joint theater and film weeks, art exhibitions, and expanded collaboration in pilgrimage tourism.

It was noted that, following the council meeting, the governments of both countries will approve a comprehensive “roadmap” aimed at ensuring the timely and effective implementation of all agreements reached.
