Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a meeting in a narrow format.
The leaders of the two countries discussed issues of further expansion of mutually beneficial Uzbek-Tajik cooperation based on centuries-old ties of friendship and good neighborliness between our fraternal peoples.
The issues of strengthening bilateral ties, cardinal expansion of the agenda of practical cooperation in the political, inter-parliamentary, trade and economic, transport and logistics, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres occupied a central place in the talks.
Over the past six years, a breakthrough has been achieved in all areas of cooperation. The agreements reached during the talks at the highest level are being successfully implemented. On a regular basis, exchanges are carried out between governments, ministries and departments, as well as regions of the two countries.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emomali Rahmon confirmed their commitment to further deepening the multifaceted Uzbek-Tajik strategic partnership.
The heads of state expressed their readiness to fill relations with new practical content by actively increasing trade and strengthening industrial cooperation, developing the logistics and transit capabilities of the two countries, as well as implementing water and energy projects.
An exchange of views took place on the regional and international agenda, issues of ensuring peace and stability in Central Asia were discussed.
The firm intention to continue further mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of multilateral structures was confirmed.
