Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 August, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
At the beginning of the conversation, the President of Germany sincerely congratulated the head of our state and the people of Uzbekistan on the 30th anniversary of the country's independence. The achievements of recent years in promoting democratic reforms and carrying out socio-economic reforms in the republic were especially noted.
In continuation of the regular dialogue at the highest level, a thorough exchange of views took place on issues of bilateral cooperation. A high assessment was given to the current level of multifaceted relations and the main directions of Uzbek-German interaction for the future were determined.
Particular attention was paid to increasing mutual trade and investment, supporting business initiatives, industrial cooperation projects in high-tech industries and infrastructure modernization programs with the participation of leading German companies such as Siemens, Bosch, Man, Claas, Knauf and many others.
Presidents dwelled on the issues of in-depth study of the German language in schools and universities of our country. We agreed to continue to actively support joint humanitarian exchanges.
The head of our state expressed his sincere gratitude to the Federal President for technical and advisory assistance to Germany in the fight against the spread of coronavirus infection in the republic.
They also exchanged views on the development of the situation in Afghanistan. Frank-Walter Steinmeier again thanked for the great assistance provided in the evacuation of citizens in transit through Uzbekistan. The importance of maintaining close contacts for the implementation of joint humanitarian operations was noted.
The telephone conversation between the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Germany was held in the spirit of mutual understanding and friendly atmosphere.
