Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 December 2020, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

The President of Uzbekistan sincerely congratulated the President of Azerbaijan on the end of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, wishing peace and prosperity to the friendly people of the fraternal country. The parties expressed their hope for ensuring security and stability in the entire region of the South Caucasus.

The leaders of the two countries discussed the current state and prospects for further development of Uzbekistan – Azerbaijan multifaceted relations.

The mutual support provided during the difficult period of the pandemic was noted with deep satisfaction, which once again demonstrated the centuries-old friendship and strategic nature of cooperation between the two countries.

The Presidents highlighted the importance of actively promoting joint programs and projects aimed at increasing the trade turnover, enhancing collaboration between leading companies in industry and agriculture, energy, transport and logistics, tourism and other sectors. The readiness to continue intensive interregional, cultural and humanitarian exchanges was confirmed.

Following the phone talk, the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan agreed to maintain a close dialogue within the framework of global and regional structures, as well as considered the schedule of the upcoming bilateral and multilateral events at the highest level.
